From the moment campers step off the pontoon boat onto our eight water-bound acres, there is no doubt they are somewhere unusual. The island is completely separate from the mainland community and the rest of the world. It is one of the most unique communities for Junior High youth to live in for a week.

Islanders come together through reliance on God and an appreciation for the nature around them, the staff and each other. Gathering their own firewood, preparing their own meals and cleaning their own dishes develops a tight community. This self-sufficient community decides together what activities will be done each day, and then embarks on the day-long adventure commonly called "Island Camp."

Islanders

Adventure is key to the Island program. The Island boasts an expansive high and low ropes course, as well as a trust fall, climbing wall and Project Adventure's Vertical Playpen. The Mountain Dew water swing and Zipline make swimming on the Island exhilarating.

Leave watches and CD players at home because Island campers live by the philosophy that "less is more." Platform tents, gas lanterns and a lot of time hanging out under the shelter make life simple. Campers eat when they are hungry, sleep when they are tired and wake when they are rested.

Bible study and worship are important elements of the Island experience. Campers hear the gospel, discuss Biblical issues and begin to create their own story of faith. Holding only about twenty-five campers and six staff each week, the Island is a close-knit community. Trust, encouragement and teamwork help form an amazing atmosphere of true Christian bonds where God can work in the lives of each camper individually.
